Petersfield Town 0-1 Wick
The Rams dropped out of the play off places after a narrow defeat at home to Wick on Saturday.
A sloppy goal in the second half was all that separated the sides, as the hosts were left frustrated in front of goal.
The first half was open for both teams, Asad Ssemwogerere latched onto a Brandon Miller through ball but a crucial tackle denied the shot.
The biggest chance fell to Harrison Cable 21 minutes in. Good work from Kian Towse on the left wing saw him beat his man and send a low cross to Cable, a good first touch saw him spin in the spot sending his shot just over.
It proved a good defensive performance from Petersfield with a lack of clear cut chances for both sides on a dry pitch. However, the second half proved an even contest. Ellis Grant made a good save low to his near post before the break and Cable clipped the crossbar early on trying to cross the ball into the area.
Kieran Alcock stung the palms of the keeper from range and Cable did well to beat the defender to a cross but his header bounced wide.
With 11 minutes to play the visitors took the lead after capitalising on poor defending. A lofted through wasn’t dealt with leaving the untracked striker to drift in and slot past Grant.
The Rams have a local derby on Monday against Midhurst and Eastbourne to prevent the double and return to the playoff positions.
