Petersfield Town 2-1 Pagham
A late Harrison Cable winner capped a performance full of character from Petersfield.
A pair of penalties in the first half levelled the game before a late Cable strike, however, both sides finished with ten men after a red card each.
Pagham created the clearer chances with Kieran Connell producing a couple of low saves in a goalmouth made tricky by wet weather.
A swift counter attack left Pagham light and despite a great challenge form Darryl Woolers the rebound came off his arm. With 28 minutes gone Callum Kimber stepped up and despite the keeper getting both hands to the shot it squirmed in.
7 minutes later and Callum Kimber went from hero to zero giving a spot kick away. From a corner the attacker struck the ball which hit the high outstretched arm. The striker took the penalty well, slotting it in off the inside of the post.
A controversial moment came minutes before half time as Will Webb was shown a second yellow for a stamp. Despite neither the referee or the linesman flagging for the foul originally the play was stopped due to the head injury. After a brief discussion with the linesman about a stamp, the referee gave Webb his marching orders.
Despite being a player down the hosts were the better side. Asad Ssemwogerere had a superb game, he linked up with Brandon Miller with the latter firing into the side netting from a good opening.
With little over ten minutes to play Cable burst through with Woolers taking him out with a great tackle, the second challenge for the loose ball was reckless on Callum Kimber with the referee showing an instant red card.
Four minutes after the red card Cable grabbed the winner. Bob Tudway and Ssemwogerere held the ball well under pressure inside the box, drawing defenders in the latter laid it off to Cable who slotted the ball into the far corner.
This victory takes Petersfield to third and welcome Hassocks on Saturday
