Fareham Town 5-1 Petersfield Town
It was curtains on a successful league campaign despite a 5-1 drubbing to Fareham to round it off on Monday night.
Managers Connor Hoare and Callum Glen made rare starts as they tried to rest players for Thursday’s Portsmouth Senior Cup match. The changes weren’t enough as a late Jozef Houldsworth goal was all to celebrate.
Glen looked like he never left, playing a defense splitting pass through to Austin Giles to get him six yards out, however his shot was saved.
Connor Underhill played a great game on the right for the Creeksiders and the first goal came down to his hard work. Taking on Charlie Merritt he beat him inside the area, playing across goal for Jamie Truckle to bundle home.
Harry Greenfield tipped over a long range effort but the host doubled their lead after 25 minutes. Hoare lost the ball in the centre of the pitch had the Rams on retreat, the ball played across goal had Truckle alone to slot in.
The hat trick was complete five minutes later as the visitors sat off the attackers, letting them play on edge of the area. When the shot came in it pinged off the inside of the post for Truckle to tap into an empty net.
Jamie Hosking grabbed the fourth and fifth in similar fashion with a couple of superb free kicks. Curling over the wall it had Greenfield stood still as it found the top corner. The second free kick bent in the same way and despite the keepers best effort he couldn’t keep it out.
The Rams did rally late on as Alex Hulme had a shot across goal well held but youngster Houldsworth scored a consolation tap in finishing a neat attacking move started by Kieran Jones.
