The Rams progressed to the quarterfinals of the Portsmouth Senior Cup with yet another penalty shootout victory over US Portsmouth.Will Essai scored the winning penalty on the day he became the record appearance holder in the modern era.

In a goalless draw void of clear cut chances, Petersfield were certainly the more progressive side creating openings just lacking that ruthless touch. Asad Ssemwogere had a great chance for the hosts in the sixth minute. Running towards the ball with the keeper closing him down and making a good block, getting the ball beyond the keeper but a great challenge put the ball behind for a corner. Dec Seiden had perhaps the best chance of the game just before the break. Played through by a terrible back pass, he took the shot early with the keeper on the edge of the box in front with the effort coming off the inside of the post.

The Rams started brightly in the second period, their best moment coming from Harrison Cable. he would feel he should have done better, firing over from close range then was unlucky not to direct a header on target after a hard cross. After 66 minutes Cable was found by a defence splitting through ball. Flashes across the face of goal with Henry Mcdonald stretching at the back post but couldn't get a touch which would have been a goal from close range.

Kieran Connell had little to do in the game but produced a fine save in the shootout down low to his left. With all Rams successful from the spot, Essai stepped up sending the keeper the wrong way to win it.
