The Rams followed up on their encouraging display in the first friendly v Gosport Borough with good performances in their next two pre-season games.
Firstly, they hosted AFC Portchester on Tuesday. In recent seasons Portchester have been one of the strongest teams in the Wessex Premier Division so a stern test was expected. However, it was the Rams who looked the better side, particularly in the first half where they dominated
proceedings to go in the break 3-1 up with goals from Kieran Alcock, Harrison Cable and Kian Towse with Connor Duffin replying for the visitors.
The second half was more even with a late penalty from Ryan Pennery reducing the deficit. Final score 3-2 to the Rams.
On Saturday they travelled to Combined Counties Premier Div Alton for an East Hampshire derby. Again the Rams made a fast start, going 2-0 up inside five minutes through Tom Dinsmore and Liam Kimber. Play became more even as the match progressed and goals from Alton in the 35th and 64th minutes meant this highly competitive encounter ended in a 2-2 draw.
