Petersfield Town 3 - 1 US Portsmouth
The Rams set up aPortsmouth Senior Cup semi-final showdown with Havant and Waterlooville after dispatching US Portsmouth.
Coming from behind to win 3-1 in windy conditions, it was all about the substitutions. Austin Giles and Kieren Jones from the U23s came on making excellent debuts to change the game with Oli Davies also making a lively return from injury.
The first half was brandished "uninspiring" from manager Callum Glen as his team battled against an organised high line. Kieran Alcock hit the post minutes in through a deflected effort and Dec Seiden fought for space but fired into the keeper.
The visitors took a 51st minute lead through a well taken free kick, avoiding the wall and slotting into the bottom corner past Harry Greenfield.
Seven minutes later, Callum Dart equalised, breaking down the defence with balls over the top meant spaces appeared. Liam Kimber made a superb chip in behind for Dart inside the area, shrugging off the defender as his low effort beat the keeper.
Giles came on and proved an instant impact, Showing determination to win the ball back and drive into the box. with Seiden in support he pulled it back with Seiden taking a touch but couldn't find the target.
With Petersfield filling with confidence, keeper Zac Jennings pulled off a great reaction save in the 72nd minute to deny Alcock but couldn't do anything minutes later as Alcock grabbed the lead. Giles again causing problems down the left pulled it back leaving the defence lost as Alcock charged in to slam home.
Oli Davies saw a well taken chip from a narrow angle go inches wide and former Ram and fan favourite Marvin Orepo just went over after getting into the box for US.
The tie was settled deep into stoppage time as the visitors attacked leaving space in behind. A long ball from Giles met by the perfectly timed Jones run as he closed in and dispatched into the corner.
